Hertha L. McCracken

Amboy Hertha “Gram” L. McCracken, 104, of Amboy passed away February 26, 2011 at Amboy Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Hertha was born November 15, 1906 in West Brooklyn, Il., daughter of Frank and Vernena Yocum. She married Byron McCracken November, 1929 in Frankiln Grove, Il.. Hertha enjoyed making quilts, crocheting, raising African Violets and was a member of the D.A.R.. She is survived by her daughter, Mildred (Francis) Andrus of Wilber, NE.; two sons, Howard (Carol) McCracken of Belvidere, IL. And Robert(Jane) McCracken of FL.; one sister, Leda Cage of Paradise, CA.; seventeen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Byron; son, Russell, daughter, Mary LeFevre, brothers, Vernon, Ralph and Dale, and sisters, Hilda and Edna. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday March 2, 2011 at Franklin Grove United Methodist Church 223 West Middle Street with Rev. Karl Sokol officiating. Interment Franklin Grove Cemetery.
