Shirley A. Willstead of Dixon formally of Ashton passed away peacefully on September 10. She was born on April 27, 1947 in Dixon, IL., the daughter of Harold and Alice Sword. She graduated from Ashton Westview High in 1966. She married Marvin Willstead on May 13, 1967. She worked for Eaton Corporation in Rochelle for 36 years retiring because of health reasons in 2005. She enjoyed making crafts of all kinds that is shared with her family, many friends and co-workers, She enjoyed traveling with her family when her health permitted. While in Ashton she was a member of the Ashton Business Boosters and a Scout Den mother for many years. She is survived by her husband, Marvin of 44 years; sons Mark (Claire) Willstead of Dixon, Scott (Kristy) Willstead of Amboy; grandson Dylan Givens of Mendota; brother Lyle (Shirley) Sword of Ashton; sisters, Donna Nass of Rochelle, Barbara Lawrence of Dixon; brother-in-law George Lauder of St. Clare Shores, MI. She is preceded in death by her parents; a son Michael Allen; and a sister Beverly Lauder. The family would like to thank the staff of Danita, K.S.B. emergency room, staff and Dr’s for there care and kindness during her long illness, she will be sadly missed by all. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Thursday September 15, 2011 at St. John’ Lutheran Church in Ashton with a one hour visitation prior, Pastor Jonathan Black will officiate. A visitation will be held form 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm Wednesday September 14, 2011 at Coulon-Lyons Family Funeral Homes & Cremation Services 815-453-2441, 601 Richardson Ave. Ashton. Interment will be at Ashton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Ashton Pennies for the park and/or Dixon City EMS.
