Joseph John Powers

Powers, Joseph John LTC USAR (Retired), 92, of Northlake, Poplar Grove, Rhodesia-Africa and Chicago, “A Great Patriot” who sacrificed continually for his country & others, passed away September 11, 2011. Joseph was a 39 year Veteran of the U.S. Army. (EAME Campaign during WWII, 34th Inf. Div. In No. Africa, Sicily and Italy. He was also a U.S. Dept. Of Defense retiree. Beloved husband of 66 years to Helen, nee Sigfrid. Father of Patricia (Michael) McClure & Kathleen (William) Fang; grandfather of Charmain (Johnson) Peter, Carolyn (Aleksandar) Ilic, David & Daniel Fang; Great-grandfather of Michael Peter; brother of Kathryn (the late James) Jensen and Clare Powers; Uncle and Great-uncle to extended Jensen family. Memorial service will be held 9:15 am Saturday October 1, 2011 at Casa San Carlo Community Center 420 N. Wolf Road, Northlake, Il. A memorial visitation will be held 8:45 am until time of service. Interment will be at Fort Sheridan Cemetery, Highland Park, Il.
