Vincent D. Unger

Vincent D. Unger, 83, of Ashton passed away October 16, 2011 at Franklin Grove Nursing Center. Vincent was born August 27, 1928 in Rochelle, Il. son of Vincent and Emma (Reitz) Unger. He married Earline Smith December 23, 1948 in Summit, Mississippi. Vincent worked for Chicago Northwestern Rail Road for 43 ½ years. He enjoyed golfing, watching sports and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. He is survived by his wife, Earline Unger of Ashton; five children, Cathy (Jim) Long of Ashton, Bob (Karen) Unger of Clare, Il., Diane (Bryan) Dixon of Rome, In., Sandy (Rick) Gramkowski of Belvidere, Il and Joe ( Fiancee Mary McCabe) Unger of DeKalb; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Clare Unger of Des Moines , IA. and one brother Jon Unger of Plant City, Fl.. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Patton and one brother Clarence Unger. A visitation will be held 10:00 am - 11:30 am Wednesday October 19, 2011 with services immediately following at Northside Baptist Church 598 River Lane, Dixon. Il. with Pastor Dan Bentz.
