Ward W. Danekas 81, of Franklin Grove, IL passed away March 9, 2013 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL. He was born on June 7, 1931 in Reynolds TWP. Lee Co, IL. to the late Freda nee( Beutel )and Stoddard Danekas. A bachelor, he left no widow or children to grieve for him. He is survived by 5 nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Mr. Danekas graduated from Dixon High School in 1949 and had his education interrupted by the Korean War. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he returned to college and received his B.S. degree in Education in 1956 from Northern Illinois State Teachers College now ( NIU ). Mr. Danekas worked at different jobs over the years including several years as a police officer in Rochelle, 2 years as a teacher in Cassville, WI., several years as a Department of the Army Civilian in Europe and with the 101st Airborne Div. at Fort Campbell, KY. He was also an Air Taxi Pilot, Art Director with Beier & Co., Copy Director with Sundstrand Aerospace and others. He retired as a Commercial Artist with Print-O-Tape Co. in Mundelein. Funeral service will be held Wednesday March 13, 2013 at the Beverage-Lyons Family Funeral Home 601 Richardson Ave. Ashton ,IL.at 10:30 a.m. interment to follow at Ashton Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday March 12, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Granny Rose Animal Shelter, Franklin Grove,IL and to Winnie Knox Memorial Library, Franklin Grove, IL. Pall Bearers will be Jim Schmall, Doug Yocum, Stuart White, Ron Wittenauer, Elwood D. Voss and Honorary Pall Bearer will be Elwood J. Voss.
