Rae John Kersten

Rae J. Kersten 73, of Ashton passed away at his home with his family by his side on March 15, 2013. He was born on June 15, 1939 in Dixon, IL to the late Raymond and Rogene ( Krug ) Kersten. He was a graduate of Ashton High School Class of 1957, he served his country with the US. Army during Viet Nam era. 192-1964. He worked for Lee F.S. “ Black Hawk “. He was the Bradford TWP Road Commissioner for 23 years, a trustee for the Ashton Fire Dept. and farmed the family farm from 1964 to 1993, he was loved by so many and will be missed. He is survived by his loving wife Sherryl, his children; Michelle Ramirezof Ashton, Lori Talley of Amboy and Mike Kersten of Ashton. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren; Kristin, Alexis, Jamey and Nathaniel. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Nancy Kersten. Funeral service will be held Wednesday March 20, 2013 at 10:30 am. At the Beverage Lyons family Funeral home 601 Richardson Ave. Ashton,IL. Interment to follow at Ashton Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday March 19, 2013 from 5-8 pm. at the funeral home.
