Robert (Bob) Rompf, age 89 of New Richmond WI, formally of Somonauk IL, passed away on November 23, 2013 at Our House Assisted Living in New Richmond WI. Bob was born on December 23, 1923 in Somonauk IL, the son of Irving E. and Ruth (Reding) Rompf. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Somonauk IL. He married the love of his life, Avis F. Adams, on June 25, 1944. Together they raised three children, Jill (Tom) Krapausky, Janet (Arnie) Parchert and Jon Rompf. That blessed union ended 68 years later with the passing of Avis in June of 2012 and Bob was never the same. He lost his soul mate. Bob was self- employed as a farmer on the family homestead farm North of Somonauk. He also was a member of the Teamsters and worked for Stahl Construction in DeKalb IL and drove a concrete truck full time for Tri-County concrete in Sandwich. Bob was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Sandwich IL. He served on the Somonauk School Board for 20 years, was a Somonauk Fire Department Trustee for 20 years and a member of Edgebrook Country Club. He was a devoted Christian, husband, parent, grandfather and great grandfather. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Avis, his son Jon A. Rompf, his sister, Gladys (Rompf) Eck, a sister in law, Lois McNary, brothers in law Robert Eck and Edward McNary. He is survived by his daughters, Jill Krapausky of Somonauk IL and Janet Parchert of New Richmond WI. His grandchildren, Carl (Olivia) Parchert, Adam (Lisa) Parchert, Rachel (Aaron) Hyman, Julie(Scott) Horsch, Shawn Smith, Tasha Krapausky, Robert L. Rompf and Jacob Rompf, two nieces, Judith Eck, and Kathy McNary and three nephews, David Eck, James Eck, Kevin McNary and numerous great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Beverage Family Funeral Home, 104 Terry Street, Sandwich IL on Friday November 29 from 4-7pm. Funeral services will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 2465 West Sandwich Rd., Sandwich IL., Saturday November 30 at 10:00am with Pastor David Kaul officiating. It is Bob’s request that memorials be directed to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
