In loving Memory of Bernice M. Bey peacefully went to be with the Lord on Sunday February 9th 2014 in Sandwich, IL. at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion surrounded by her family. Born on April 15th 1923 in Independence, Iowa. She was 90 years old. Married to Robert O. Rice together they had two children Patricia Rice of Somonauk and Janie Raye Rice , who fought a courageous battle of breast cancer and went to be with the Lord in June 2003. Grandchildren Jamie, Kristina, Nicole, Rebekah and great grandchildren, Rachel, Courtney, Kelsey, Dylan, Jaden and Lucas, great great grandchildren Jacob and Marley. She is preceded in death by her father, Calvin C. Clayton her mother Grace Clayton and her Husband Robert O. Rice. Bernice graduated in 1948 from Coe College in Cedar Rapids Iowa with a Nursing Degree passionate in her Career, 10 years in the operating Room, over 20 years at Bendicks Aviation as Director of Nursing and then retiring. Over ten years as a school nurse. She was involved in the Eastern Star and Worthy Matron of Chapter 178 in 1958 in Davenport, IA. In 2008 Bernice moved to Somonauk with her daughter Patricia and became actively involved in Sandwich Senior Center who she considered to be her second family. She was loved deeply and cared by Jenny and Casey White on a daily basis. Visitation will be held Friday February 14, 2013 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Beverage Family Funeral Home Sandwich, IL. and funeral services held Saturday February 15, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
