Charles Alvin Johnson 80 , of Sandwich passed away at his home on February 12, 2014. He was born on March 30, 1933 to Alvin (Luella Wade ) Johnson. Due to his mother’s tragic death when he was only one and a half years old he went to live and was raised by his grandparents Arthur and Fern ( Van kirk ) Wade. They loved him so dearly and raised him as their son and he called them mom and dad. He was united in marriage to Nan Johns on April 3 2003 in Harrison, AR. He was a loving and caring husband, Charlie was known to many as Chuck, Red or Whitey. He was employed and retired from Roadway Trucking; he enjoyed riding his Gold Wing motorcycle which he rode in the lower 48 states. He belonged to different motorcycle clubs and earned many trophies from many states. He and Nan enjoyed traveling in their fifth wheel and enjoyed many trips with their friends with 2 different camping clubs he also had a passion for bowling. He enjoyed his church in Arkansas the Woodland Baptist Church and enjoyed eating out and visiting with friends and just taking a ride, his trademark became his cowboy hat. Due to health reasons he moved back to IL. He is survived by his wife Nan of Sandwich, his children Jackie Johnson of WA. , Kathy (Bud) Kieninger of Lees Burg, VA. And William ( Elaine ) Johnson of Sandwich, IL. 3 Step Children; Anna (Jerry) Campbell of Sheridan, William Johns of Sandwich and Thomas (Kathy) Johns of Plano. 6 grandchildren; Crystal ( Sam ) Schafer, Shad Schneider, Nina Kieninger, Toni ( Adam ) Niles, Tracy Johnson and Brian Johnson. 8 step grandchildren Jason and Ryan Campbell, Tiffany ( Joe ) Brummel, Tonia ( Dave ) Gavin, Tharen ( Andrew ) Pfister, William III, Daryl and Danielle Johns, 3 great grandchildren; Gwendolyn and Clark Schafer, Kyle Robinson, 5 great great grandchildren; Colin Campbell, Grace and Tommy Brummel, Faith and Blake Gavin. His brothers Sam ( Betty ) Wade, Arthur ( Lucille ) Wade, and William ( Arlene ) Wade. Sisters Pat Gareski and Pat Wegand, sister in laws Donna Wade and Marlene Skinner, Brother in law Fred ( June ) Dollman, and Judy Gulley whom he loved as a sister, also several nieces nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brothers; Richard, Howard ( Jean ), Robert ( Carmen ), John (Mary ) and Gerald ( Mary Lou )Wade, sisters; Sharon Baker and Ila Roche, Brother in laws; James Baker, Al Gareski and Jeep Wegand. And nephews and a niece. Memorial visitation will be held February 16 2014 at the Beverage Family Funeral Home in Sandwich Il. from 1:00 p.m. -4:00 p.m. Memorial service will be at 4:00 p.m. Internment will take place at a later date in Little Rock Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make memorials to Fox Valley Older Adults Services. We would like to thank the Dr.s and nurses at Dreyer Clinic.
