Dorothy V Yocum, 99 of Mount Morris, passed away February 13, 2014 at Pine Crest Terrace in Mount Morris. Dorothy was born January 22, 1915 in LaFayette Township, Ogle County Illinois, daughter of Harry and Grace (Metzler) Yocum. She resided in Ashton most of her life. Dorothy was formerly employed by J.L. Clark Co. where she had worked for 31 years, first at the Ashton plant, then at the Stillman Valley plant, and finally at the Rockford plant location. After her retirement she helped with the American Red Cross blood drives in Ashton. She is survived by one brother Orville (Bill) Yocum of Franklin Grove, five nieces; Gracie (Tom) Grove of Dixon, Mary (Kim) Rick of Rochelle, Pam (Bill) Lundberg of Rockford, Donna (Raymond) Ward of Oregon, Patti (Mark) Forrester of Franklin Grove; seven nephews, Melvin Yocum of Franklin Grove, Merle Yocum of Amboy, Dallas (Sandra) Yocum of Polo, Delbert (Sharon)Yocum of Franklin Grove, Dennis (Karen) Yocum Sr.of Franklin Grove, Larry (Kathy) Yocum of Franklin Grove, Steve (Josie) Yocum of Franklin Grove; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Donald Yocum, and three sisters, Lois Wolf, Mary Jane Frakes, and Evelyn Yocum. The Family wishes to thank the staff at Pinecrest Terrace of mount Morris for their loving care for Dorothy for the past seven and a half years, and the staff at Serenity Hospice and Home, Oregon for their loving support. Funeral Services for Dorothy will be Tuesday February 18 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Beverage Lyons Family Funeral Home 601 Richardson Ave. Ashton, IL. With the Richard Bright Pine Crest Chaplain officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at Ashton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established to Pine Crest Manor and Serenity Hospice and Home.
