Steven Joseph Marshinski

Steven Joseph Marshinski, 60, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 after a four and half year battle with cancer. During his battle with cancer his motto was to “be strong” and through that time he never wavered in his strength and bravery. He was born to Dennis and Joann Marshinski January 15, 1954, in Chicago, IL before shortly moving to Hillside. Steven graduated from Downers Grove North in 1972, with his twin brother Gary. He married Sandie Peters in 1986 and they lived together ever since in Wheaton, IL. Steven began his construction career with his father Dennis working for Joseph J. Duffy construction as a carpenter. Steven furthered his career as a construction superintendent working with McHugh construction playing an essential role in large projects such as; Nike Town Chicago, C.D Peacock, Chicago Public Schools, as well as numerous Lowes, Home Depots, and Expo Design Centers. Steven finished his career working for W.E O’Neil Builders in 2009. Steven was a man of seemingly endless hobbies and abilities. At home he was known as “Mr. Fix-It”, remodeling and renovating, crafting custom pieces of furniture, leaving a special lasting mark in every space of his family’s home. Steven also enjoyed art, cooking, model cars, and most of all spending time with his family and beloved puppies Stormy and Skye. Steven is survived by his wife Sandie, his three children Shannan, Sean, and Sara, as well as his parents Dennis and Joann Marshinski, his brother Gary, and his two sisters Dianne Marshinski and Laura Magruder. Services will be held at William Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E Roosevelt Rd., Wheaton, IL, 60187, on Saturday March 8th. A wake will be held from 12:00pm-4:00pm followed by a memorial service at 4:00pm. The family requests that you please dress in purple or yellow to honor Steven.
