Dorothy May Benjamin 83 of Sandwich passed away May 27, 2014 at Kishwaukee Hospital. She was born on June 21, 1930 to George and Eva (Werner) McLean in Ottawa Illinois. She married Charles Benjamin on September 2 1950 in Ottawa Illinois. She was born with a natural talent for art, and loved searching for Arrowheads, Indian artifact and enjoyed American Indian history. She grew up on the farm and continued to live on a farm with husband Charles until his passing. She worked in the cafeteria at Lynn Haskin School, kitchen help at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion, at CMT and at Walmart in Plano. She showed and raised Quarter horses for many years. She started a craft business after Charles death making corn husk dolls for special orders and craft shows. She was a past Honor Queen of Jobs Daughters Ottawa and Charter order gaurdian of Jobs Daughter in Sandwich. She loved her home of 60 years, her gardening and her dog. She is survived by her children; Deborah DeGroot (Bob Widner) of Sandwich, Cathy Meyer (Frank Snell) of Delton Michigan, Pamela (Jon) Ross of Ottawa and Terry Benjamin of Sandwich, 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles and 2 sisters; Jean Hogan and Evalyn Brooker. Funeral Services for Dorothy will be Friday May 30, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Beverage Family Funeral Home with Pastor Derrick Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Mound Cemetery.
