Barbara Derby Baylor

Barbara Derby Baylor 77 of Ashton passed away June 14, 2014 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Barbara was born June 4 1937 at the hospital in Amboy Illinois, the daughter of Floyd and Doris (Richardson) Derby. She married Jack Baylor on April 20, 1958, in Ashton Illinois. Barbara was a member of the Ashton United Methodist Church. Barbara taught school in the Ashton Community Unit Schools for many years. She thoroughly enjoyed her years with “her” children, many of whom she still kept in touch with. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, crafts, playing cards and family and friends. Christmas was her favorite time of year when friends and family were always in touch. She was an avid fan of the St Louis Cardinals Baseball team in the summer. Survivors include her husband Jack, one son, Edward (Karen) Baylor of Ashton; one daughter Rebecca Baylor of Silverthorne, Colorado; grandsons Ryan Baylor of Ashton, and Ethan Baylor of Collinville, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services for Barbara will be Thursday June 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ashton United Methodist Church with Reverend Sang Hun Han officiating. Interment will follow at the Woodside Cemetery in Lee Center. Visitation will be Wednesday June 18, 2014 from 4:00 -8:00p.m. at the Church. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Ashton United Methodist Church, or Ashton Fire and Ambulance Department.
