Forrest ( Jack ) J. Fischer

Forrest “Jack” Fischer of Sheridan Illinois, age 91, the son of Charles and Elizabeth Fischer passed away on July 7 2014 at Valley West Hospital. He was born on a farm in the township of Cicero Wisconsin on June 10 1923. He served in the Army during World War II. He was severely wounded and subsequently spent a year and one half in an Army hospital in Galesburg, Illinois. He was discharged from the Army and spent another year and one half at the Veterans Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he met an Army nurse, Wanda Louis Hotmar of Princeton, Wisconsin. They married and had two children, Cindy and James. He trained at Marquette University and Arizona State University to become a medical photographer. He worked at the Veterans Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin where he retired at the age of 55. He had many interests, but flying was his first love, and because of his early retirement his flying took him many places in this land. At the age of 79 he met up with a lady Pauline Bowden. He had known her when he was in the hospital in Galesburg. They married and spent 8 great years together before she passed away. They traveled many places and just loved each other. He is survived by his two children, two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. A step daughter Bonnie (Ron) Bauer of Sheridan IL, his step son Norman Bowden, three step grandchildren, his good friend and companion Patsy Becker and a very good friend Gary Moss, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fox Valley Older Adults Service. A Memorial service will be held on July 16, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Beverage Family funeral Home with Pastor David Kaul officiating. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
