Joyce Marie Allen

Joyce Marie ( Finnestad ) Allen 83, of Sandwich passed away at her home with her family with her on August 11, 2014. She was born on December 22, 1930 in the family home in Malta, IL. to Marvin and Gladys ( Berke ) Finnestad. She attended a country school south of DeKalb before moving to DeKalb to attend high School, she graduated in 1948. Joyce graduated from Rockford Memorial School of Nursing in 1951. Joyce worked for Sandwich Community Hospital for 25 years, the last 10 as Director of Nursing. In 1977 Joyce established The Allen Home Health Agency. She continued to operate the agency until her retirement in 2000. She married Edward Harold Allen on September 29, 1951. They were married for 56 years when Harold passed away on January 2008. Joyce is survived by her children; Arnold ( Ellie ) Allen , Kathleen ( Curtis ) Heuertz, Kenneth ( Denise ) Allen all of Sandwich and Sherri Storms of Monroe, CT. Grandchildren; Diane ( Michael ) Rose of Serena, IL. Nicole ( Mark ) Walser of Southbury, CT. Edward ( Candace ) Allen of Montgomery , IL and Joshua ( Justine Sweetman ) Storms of Brooklyn, NY. Great grandchildren; Melissa Rose of Serena, IL. Brinley and Holden Walser of Southbury, CT. Benjamin Allen of Montgomery, IL. Ellie’s children; grandchildren Melissa ( Rob ) Wright of Sandwich, Melody ( Ron ) Hunt of Somonauk and Danielle ( Arnie ) Hollenbeck of Sandwich, great children; Joshua Wright, Natalie and Nathan Hunt of Somonauk and Katelyn and Addison Hollenbeck of Sandwich and great great grandchild Oliver Wright of Plano. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold and grandson Mark Repko. Funeral services will be held August 14, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church ( Corner of Pratt and West Sandwich Rd. ) Sandwich, IL. Interment to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery Sandwich. IL. Visitation will be held August 13, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. at the Beverage Family Funeral Home Sandwich, IL.
