Gertrude Irene (Titzel) Harrington passed away peacefully on November 24, 2014. She was born August 30, 1920 in Sandwich, Illinois to Roy and Millie (Koehler) Titzel. She married Charles S. Harrington on March 17, 1939 in Sandwich. Mrs Harrington lived for 41 years in Sandwich on LaFayette Street and on a farm during their marriage south of Sandwich before moving to Oswego in 1961. She would continue to make trips to Sandwich because as she said, “it feels like home.” Every street there had a story. She loved the Sandwich Fair and harness racing there. She worked as an assistant cook at Fox Bend in the 1970s. Her love of cooking, baking, gardening, and birding are her legacies. She enjoyed the meals at the Oswego Senior Center with her group of loyal friends. She is survived by her children; Louise Falknor of McAllen, Texas, Mark (Julie) Harrington of Batavia IL., and Kent (Anna Maria) Harrington of Manila, Philippines. Also surviving are grandchildren; Lisa (Brian) Blevins, Lori (Mark) Sojourner, Kathy (Craig) Lindl, Emily Harrington, Ben Harrington, and Stephany Harrington and great grandchildren: Austin and Ally Sojourner, Paige and Megan Blevins, sister, Patricia (Duane) Tesdall of Mackinaw, IL. and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 2004, her daughter Nancy Kennedy, her siblings, Keith, Elizabeth, Ruth, Mary and Verna, granddaughter Karen Kennedy and son-in-laws Art Kennedy and Harry Falknor. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Beverage Family Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Stoner officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
