Sig Carl Falk 86 of Leland passed away at his home with his family by his side. He was born on March 12, 1928 in Augsburg, Germany. He came to the United States with his family in 1930. He couldn’t speak a word of English and didn’t have a dime in his pocket. He grew up in West Chicago / Warrenville area and graduated from West Chicago Community High School. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, where he worked in the motor pool. After his military service he met the love of his life, Barbara at a dance at Longs Barn. They were married on October 10, 1953 and spent the next 61 happy years together. They raised 4 children together in Aurora, Stephanie , Kimberlie, Kevin and Tim .The family enjoyed traveling the country, including Alaska, on their annual summer vacation. Sig at the age of 42 traveled on his BMW R75 on a month long, 2000 mile road trip to Alaska and the West Coast on this trip he visited his many army buddies and camped out along the way. He worked as a truck driver for Blackwood Motor Freight and ABF. Upon retirement he and Barbara enjoyed spending time at their home in Florida, going to flea markets and riding his recumbent bike. He completed the century, 100 miles of the Withlacoochee Trail at the age of 74. He was an avid gardener and gourmet cook. He loved to cook for his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara, his children Kimberlie Falk of Aurora, and Timothy Falk of Plano grandchildren John Malone, and Nikki and Kristina Falk, sister Mary Miller of Princeton IL., and brother Hubert (Mary) Falkowski of Aurora, brother in laws, Don Blackwood of Aurora, and Richard (Mia) Blackwood of Florida, and sister in law Maxine Molitor of Arizona and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; Marie and John, a daughter Stephanie 1996 and a son Kevin 1981. Funeral service will be Friday February 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Aurora, IL. with Fr Andrew Hougan officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday February 19, 2015 at the Beverage Family Funeral Home from 4:00-8:00
