John Lawrence Region, Jr. passed away on March 14, 2015 at his home in Sheridan, Illinois He was 79 years old. John was born on January 10, 1936 to John and Margaret Region in Somonauk, Illinois. He graduated from Plano High School in 1955. His first job after high school was as a mechanic for Jess Ronning at the Cities Service station in Plano. Then he was a mechanic for the Cottongim brothers at the Mobil gas station. Later he worked with his brother Jim as a mechanic and semi truck driver. His favorite occupation was driving semi trucks. His last job was for the City of Plano Police and Street Departments as a mechanic. He also repaired streets and drove street sweepers and snow plows. In 1983 he was unable to continue working after experiencing a stroke. John married Twylah Chapman on July 2, 1959, at the Sheridan Seventh-day Adventist church, and they were married for 55 years. They traveled to Alaska in their 1955 Oldsmobile for their honeymoon. They enjoyed Alaska so much that they returned for two family vacations in 1962 and 1967. John was a faithful member of the Sheridan Seventh-day Adventist church for 55 years. Prior to his stroke, he actively served as a Deacon and Elder. He was always willing to help anyone in need. John was preceded in death by his father and mother, sisters Violet Larsen and Jean Gifford, and brother Jim. He is survived by his wife Twylah, daughter Sandy and son-in-law Barry Butler, son Wayne, grandchildren Luke, Grace and Garrett, and many nieces and nephews.
