Gary Lee Hunt

Gary Lee Hunt 71 of Franklin Grove passed away on May 11 2015 at his home. He was born on May 23, 1943 to Joseph and Ruth (Delaughter) Hunt in Dixon Illinois. He married Arla Beck on March2, 1963 in Mt Morris, IL, and spent the next 52 years happily married. Gary worked at Del Monte and Swift factories; drove truck for the State of Illinois and Whatever Trucking Company in Dixon, IL. He pumped gas at the Shell station in Franklin Grove, He raced stock cars on a dirt track, late models, racing #23,#98 and# 5 in Freeport, LaSalle and throughout the Midwest, and hard track racing in Rockford, IL. He is survived by his wife Arla, his 3 children; Roxanne(Roger) Morris, Rosanne (Hank) Eisenberg, Gary Hunt and “honorary son” Andy Atkinson, one brother Jim (Vicki) Hunt and one sister Beverly Hunt all of Franklin Grove IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, and granddaughter Felicia Morris. Visitation for Gary will be Friday, May 15th 2015 from 4:00-8:00p.m. at the Beverage Lyons Family Funeral Home in Ashton, Illinois. Funeral services will be Saturday May 16, 2015 at 2:00p.m. at the Beverage Lyons Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jin-Ho Hong officiating. Interment will follow at the Franklin Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Franklin Grove United Methodist Church, Franklin Grove Fire Department, or Serenity Hospice.
