Ralph C. Wallis Sr. 94 of DeKalb formerly of Sandwich passed away July 23, 2015 at Kishwaukee Hospital. He joined his wife of 70 years, Gertrude in eternity. He was born March 16, 1921 in East Moline, IL. to the late Robert and Ora Wallis. He served his country during WW II with the Merchant Marines in Europe and Asia. He was a proud veteran. He was a plumber in Sandwich where help many with their plumbing needs, he retired from NIU as plumber in the Physical Plant. He lived most his life in Sandwich and after retirement he spent winters in Texas for several years. He loved to collect watches, knives and his prize collection of toy tractors. While in Texas he spent hour’s woodcarving. Ralph’s family will always remember him as a kind man always with a smile. He is survived by his son’s Ralph (Peg) Wallis Jr, and Richard (Carolyn) Wallis, six grandchildren, Lisa, Amy, Lori, Doug, Todd (Karen) and Kelly (Kurt), and 4 great grandchildren Jack, Autumn, Connor, and Peyton. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be Tuesday July 28, 2015 at 12:00 at the Beverage Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 until the time of service. Interment to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery Sandwich IL.
