Lovina Lillian Johnson, age 89 of Sandwich, IL. passed away Saturday October 17, 2015 at the Willow Crest Nursing Home in Sandwich. Lovina was born on October 20, 1925 in Swea City Iowa to Eugene and Lovina Helen Worden. She was the youngest of seven children and had three brothers: John, Raymond and Dwight and three sisters: Ada, Nelda and Laura. She married Arthur D Johnson of Rake, Iowa on March 20, 1941 in Rake, Iowa. Together they raised their family of seven children and eventually moved to Sandwich area, where they faithfully attended Sandwich Nazarene Church for many years, living out the remainder of their lives in Sandwich. Lovina enjoyed working as Activity Director at Roosevelt Square Nursing Home in Sandwich for many years. She was very active in her Church; she was an accomplished cook and baker and loved spending time with her family. She led a full and productive life before spending the final years here battling Alzheimer’s disease. She will be greatly missed by all of her family. Lovina is survived by her six children and their spouses: Carlene (Ron) Dillenback, Arden (Lydia) Johnson, Robert (Helen) Johnson, Marlyis (Harry) Anderson, James (Pamela) Johnson, and Tami (Ron) Akre, 26 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and 2 sisters in law. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur D Johnson, a son Arthur G (Butch) Johnson, one grandson, and one son in law, two great grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be held at the Beverage Family Funeral Home at 104 Terry Street in Sandwich on Wednesday evening, October 21, 2015 from 5:00p.m.-8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on October 22, 2015 at the Sandwich Nazarene Church 205 W. College St at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Abbott officiating .Burial will at the Oak Mound Cemetery, 13657 Chicago R., in Somonauk. Memorials may be directed to: Sandwich Nazarene Church or Willow Crest Activity Fund. Our family wishes to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Janota and the Willow Crest staff for their care and concern shown to Lovina during her eight years stay at Willow Crest.
