William (Moe) Maliszewski, 85, of Rochelle, IL passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. He was born March 4, 1931 in Winona, MN to Vincent and Stella (Rudnik) Maliszewski. Moe graduated from Cotter High School in Winona. He went on to join the U.S. Army for 1 year and later joined the U.S. Air Force for 4 years as a 3rd Class Airman assigned to the Air Police Squadron serving overseas in Japan. He married Rose Mary Lilla on October 20, 1956 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Winona. Moe worked in the meat industry for 41 years with Swift, Dubuque, and Hormel Foods. He is a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Rochelle. Moe is survived by his three sons, Mark (Brenda), Rochelle; James (Karen), Rockford, IL; and Joey (Jennifer), West Salem, WI. He is also survived by his grandchildren Roxanne and Elise Maliszewski, Jana (Mike) Guzaldo, Jake (Allison) Maliszewski, Joshua, Abigail, Katie, and Noah Maliszewski; and his great granddaughter Isla Guzaldo, along with several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, sisters Florence, Victoria and Leona, and brothers Ted, Julius, and John. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 27, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Rochelle. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the mass at the church. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery with military rites provided by Eastern Lee – Ogle Honor Guard and Rochelle VFW. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Moe’s memory may be given to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Rochelle.
