Thomas Edward Whetston 88, of Rochelle passed May 24, 2016 away at his home with his wife at his side. He was born on July 16 1927 in Rochelle , IL to the late Katherine ( Spath ) and George Francis Whetston. He attended St. Patrick’s grade school and Rochelle TWP High School, the only graduate to be drafted and served in the Army. He married Jacqueline Decker on August 5, 1950 at St. Patrick Church. He was recalled to the Army to serve in combat on September 1, 1950 in Korea. His son was born on the day he left for Korea June 13, 1951 and discharge in 1953. He worked in the Printing Co. for 40 years before retiring. He is survived by his loving wife Jacqueline ( Decker ) Whetston, son Thomas J. Whetston, grandson Thomas S. Whetston, granddaughter Hannah L. Whetston, nephew James M. Wheston and cousin J. Patrick Dohm. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother James W. Whetston 2002, sister Margaret M. Banks 1966 and infant sister Joanne 1926. Funeral mass will be celebrated May 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church Rochelle, with Fr. Johnson Lopez officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hr prior to mass at the church. Interment to follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery , Military Honors will be provided by the Eastern Lee-Ogle VFW Honor Guard.
