Wm. (Bill) Kenneth Abens

William (Bill) Kenneth Abens, 82 of Sandwich passed away peacefully at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion on Wednesday July 26, 2017. He was born on May 20, 1935 to Laverne and Gladys (Olson) Abens in Bald Mound, IL. He was a carpenter by trade. Served his country with the US. Army, coached Little League Baseball, bowled on Wednesday night bowling league at Idle Hour Lanes, golfed on the Wednesday Moose league, and loved carving. He was a Life member of the Moose lodge 1016, a member of the Sandwich Historical Society, and Valley Carvers Association. He is survived by his wife Janice, his children; Brenda (Joe) Breunig of Sandwich, William (Bill) Abens of Sandwich, and Gina (Jacques) Wesson of Leland, grandchildren; Taylor, Austin, Dustin, Shane, Porter, and Logan, his sisters; Jean (Dennis) Sorenson of Yorkville, Judy Bark of Sandwich, Dorothy Shermer of Sandwich, Karen (Jim) Leasure of Sandwich and Nancy Abens of Denver Co., and his brothers Dick (Nancy) Abens of Tucson Az., Bud (Anita) Abens of Sandwich, and George (Nancy) Abens of Earlville. Also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Irene, and brothers Pete and Arnold. Visitation for Bill will be July 30, 2017 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Sandwich from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor David Kaul officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Fox Valley Older Adults, Sandwich Historical Society or Unity Hospice.
