On the 5th of October a loved one was lost. Hakilah Shufelt was a loving Mother, protective sister, reliable friend and a dutiful wife. Though those definitions of her character are not for reaching, for the purpose of brevity they will have to do. As the loving wife of Ethan Shufelt, their relationship grew through hardship, love, friendship, losses and through perseverance prevailed. As a mother Hakilah was caring, supportive, and protective of her two children, Maggie (3 years old and Curtis (2 months old). Her memory lives on in her husband Ethan Shufelt, her children Maggie and Curtis Shufelt, her Grandmother Fran Martin, her brother Jonathon Martin, her sisters, Tenille and Minnie Morten and her extended family whom she loved very much and to whom she devoted a great deal of time. The love reciprocated between Ethan’s family and Hakilah was without parallel. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Curtis (Bill) Martin and her brother Nathanial Martin. Words cannot express the emotions being presented throughout the following days, and those emotions will continue to exist certainly for months, but perhaps for years as well. Hakilah Our Sunshine, born with the heart of an angel. She was sent from heaven to be a light to many especially our family, wise beyond her years. Beautiful sparkling and gifted. Strong, determined, devoted and true. She was fashioned to be a tee to be deep in the fabric of our lives. We could never have loved her more. She was perfect. She has been the wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend more precious than could ever have dreamed of. She will stay in our hearts always. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Salem Lutheran Church (Sandwich) on Friday, October 13th 2017 a 11:00 a.m. Arrangements were handled by Beverage Family Funeral Home Sandwich, IL. www.beveragefamilyfh.com
