Hortense Oesterheld

Hortense (Rodgers) Oesterheld, 90, of Rochelle, passed away November 19, 2007 at the Oregon Healthcare Center. Hortense was born January 25, 1917 near Byron, Il.. She was the daughter of Samuel and Charlotte (Gates) Rodgers. She was a united in marriage to William A. Oesterheld, February 8, 1936 in Aurora, Il.. Hortense and William had one son, Rodger Oesterheld of Byron, Il. She is survived by her son Rodger and wife Virgie Oesterheld, three grandchildren, Jeffrey of Byron, Il., Jonathan and wife, of Rockford, Il., Jennifer Whitley and husband of Rochelle, Il., and sister Viola Moyer of Aurora, Il.. Hortense was predeceased by four brothers, Harold, Clyde, Don and Jack Rodgers and one sister Doris Cole. Hortense was an active member of the Rochelle Community Hospital auxiliary for over fifty years. She was also a Den Mother, belonged to the Rochelle Mother’s Club, and was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for many years.
