Michael Cushing, 52,of Rochelle, formally of Forest Park, passed away after fighting a long battle with cancer June 27, 2010 at home surrounded by family. Mike was born July 19, 1957. He was an avid Coca-Cola collector, loved wood working (he made so many beautiful things), yard work, camping and fishing. Michael was a volunteer fire fighter for the Rochelle Fire Department for 17 years. He had a great sense of humor, a very big heart and was caring and helpful to many and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He worked for Silgan as a conversion press mechanic. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Pam; loving buddy, Sparky; his father, Richard (Donna) Cushing of Arizona; brother, Steve of Brookfield; mother-in-law, Darlene Klinger of Florida; sisters-in-law, Sandy (Ossie) Boydston of Georgia and Terry (Steven) Fox of Florida; a very special cousin, Ben Ignaszak; very special friends Bob Dargert, Ron Eggers and Larry Myers; and many nieces and nephews.. He is predeceased by his mother, Mardelle; and his grandparents, Erskine “Skunk” and Breta Corman. Memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday August 14, 2010 at Rochelle Fireman's Hall 311 6th Ave.
