Ashton-Alice Faye (Tate) Harvey, 74, of Ashton died Wednesday, July 25, at home surrounded by family. She was born August 6, 1932 in Dixon, Illinois, the daughter of Harry W. and Eva Tate. She was also raised by her foster parents Cora and Paul Liester. Alice married Charles Dennis Harvey on December 12, 1950 in Dixon. They spent their lives in the Ashton area where they raised eight children. She is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ashton. Alice spent her life giving to others. She owned restaurants where she delighted people with her homemade dishes. After finishing that business, she worked for many years as a nurse’s aide at Lee County Nursing Home. The most important things in Alice’s life were family and her beloved St. Louis Cardinals. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son Ricky, two brothers Harry O and Robert Tate, and two sisters Norma Tate and Wilma Linboom. Survivors include four sons, Paul, Duane (Tammy) and Randy all of Franklin Grove and Ray Allen (Val) of Beloit, Wis., four daughters, Charlene Harvey and Loretta (Bob) felix of Ashton, Sheila (Steve Mercer) Shaw of Dixon and Jeanna (Jim) Brooks of Oregon, one sister, Neva Seloover of Rock Falls, one sister-in-law, Francis (George) Lister of Hines, Minn, twenty grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Monday July 30, at Coulon-Lyons Family Funeral Homes, 601 Richardson, Ashton, Il. 815-453-2441,with Rev. Christina Stienstra officiating. A one hour visitation will be held prior to services. Interment Ashton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday July 29, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Ashton Rescue Squad.
