Walter Carl Rodatz

March 13, 1922 — February 13, 2010

Walter Carl Rodatz passed away February 13, 2010 at Rochelle Rehab and Nursing Center surrounded by his family. He was born March 13, 1922 in Lawnwood, Illinois , was raised by his grandparents and aunts and went home to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ on February 13, 2010. During the WWII years, Walter was engaged in farming. Later he was employed by the Wurlitzer Corporation in DeKalb, IL. for 24 years. He then worked at Chrysler Corporation in Belvidere, IL., where he retired in 1989 after 17 years. Walter married Louise Williamson and they had a daughter, Margaret. They were divorced after 8 years. Walter then had a conversion experience and was active in his church where he met and married Ruthanna B. Carr of Shabbona, IL. They were married for 42 years. Walter and Ruthanna started a Christian pre-school that became Cornerstone Christian Academy in Sycamore, IL. Walter was a devout Christian man who served in Tres Diaz and would share his faith and salvation experience with anyone who would listen. He was a prayer warrior and prayed constantly for family and friends, always carrying a prayer list with him. Walter loved to fish and work with his hands, first making toy boxes and book shelves and later putting together a myriad of jigsaw puzzles. He was an avid gardener and raised huge crops which he shared with others. Walter is now in Heaven with his Savior and he is probably dancing on the leg that God has now restored. Walter leaves behind his wife, Ruthanna Rodatz of Rochelle, IL., his brother Lyle Witzel of Mt. Vernon, IL, his daughter Margaret Olson of Genoa, IL, 6 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church of Rochelle, IL., 1100 Calvin Road, A one hour visitation will be held prior to services. Rev. Dr. John G. Hamilton will be officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded.
