[Flag] Eloise Capps Polstra, 88, of Kings, Il. passed away January 28, 2010 at Ogle County Hospice Serenity Home in Oregon, Il. She was born Feb. 4, 1921 in Lafayette, Indiana. Her parents were Nathan and Evangeline Rhoda Capps. She was a graduate of West Lafayette High School and Lafayette Home School of Nursing in 1942.In 1943 she enlisted in the Army Nurse Corp and served until 1945. She than was a nurse with the Purdue University Health Dept. and worked for the Tippecanoe school district as a school nurse for 17 years. She married Carl Delmar Polstra June 4, 1949, they enjoyed their 60th anniversary recently. Carl is a Presbyterian minister and served several church in Indiana. In 1977 they moved to Kings, IL. to serve churches in Kings and Holcomb were she was a Sunday School teacher. Eloise served as clerk for White Rock1980 to 2000. She help found Ogle County Hospice, cared for the first patient was the first board member and treasurer and was very active in the Ogle County Hospice Organization from 1984 to 2006. She is a member of the Rochelle Chapter of DAR. She was the first board member and treasurer of the Rochelle Christian Food Pantry and was active in Rochelle Christian Association. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rochelle and was in the Kings Kitchen Band. She is survived by her husband, Carl of Kings, Il.; her son Bruce Polstra of Delphi, Ind.; A special daughter-in-law, Jeanne Polstra of Hillsbro, OH.; sister-in-laws Edna Blue of West Lafayette, Ind and Vivian Capps of Fresno, Ca.; 12 grand children and 18 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son Jay R. Polstra D.V.S.; daughter Linda Polstra McClarty; brother, William Capps and husbands parents, Edward and Della Polstra. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Monday February 1, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church of Rochelle with Rev. Dr. John G. Hamilton officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday January 31, 2010 at the church an one hour prior to services on Monday. Funeral services will also be held 10:00 AM Wednesday February 3, 2010 at Hippenteel Funeral Home in Lafayette, Ind. with a visitation from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday February 2, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church and/or Ogle County Hospice.
