Neil Edwin Metcalf

Neil E. Metcalf, 88, of Rochelle, a WWII Veteran, passed away November 4, 2009 at Oregon Health Care. Neil was born July 10, 1921 in Salem, IL. Son of Chancey and Cora (Henney) Metcalf. He married Helen Brooks on Feb. 5, 1954 in Mt. Vernon, Il. Neil served in the United States Army during WWII, was an avid John Deere fan and was very proud of his country and his family. Neil worked for Swift until they closed than he worked for Crest Foods until his retirement. He is survived by one daughter, Sandy (Keith)Wittenauer of Rochelle; two sons, Gerald (Rita) Metcalf of Winnebago and Greg (Marion) Metcalf of Germany; seven grandchildren, Casey, Lane, Maika, Brian, Chris, Ben (Marcia), and Matt; one great-grandchild Gavin. He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen. Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Saturday November 7, 2009 at Coulon-Lyons Family Funeral Home 704 N. 6th St., Rochelle, 815-562-6872 with Preacher Rusty Taylor officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to time of service at the funeral home. A Memorial has been established.
