Michael L. Shoger

Michael L. Shoger, 61, of Rockford passed away December 6, 2008 in Rockford, Il. Michael was born January 26, 1947 in Aurora, Il. Son of Virgil and Joy Shoger. Mike had a passion for tennis, he played competitive tennis from his childhood until the late 1980's. He was well known and respected in Northern Illinois tennis circles for his competitive drive and great doubles play. He was active in both Rockford Park District tournaments and Beloit tennis club events. He competed in hundreds of tournaments and won many of them over the years. He will be missed by the entire Northern Illinois tennis community. Survivors include his father, Virgil Shoger of Rochelle, Il.; two brothers Ron (Nancy) Shoger of St. Charles, Il. and Jack Shoger of Fontana, Wi..; one sister Susan (Scott) Keizer of Fruita, Co.; Uncle of two nieces and four nephews. Predeceased by his mother, Joy. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Friday December 12, 2008 at Elim Reformed Church 140 S. Church Road, Kings, Il., with Pastor Brett Todd officiating. Interment White Rock Cemetery. A one hour visitation will be held prior to services at church. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association.
