Velma Jane Chapman

Velma J. Chapman, 79, of Rochelle passed away March 11,2009 at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore, Il.. She was born October 22, 1929 in Wayne County, Mo., Daughter of Bert and Stella Elder. She married Dale Chapman September 27, 1946. Velma is survived by one son, Jerry Chapman of Oregon, Il.; one daughter, Sandra (Ken Wiersema) Chapman of Rochelle, Il.; three grandchildren David (Tina) Chapman of Rochelle, Il., Brian (Jessica) Chapman of Rochelle, Il., and Christine (Tyler) Hulsebus of Austin, MN.; three great-grandchildren, Deacon Chapman of Rochelle, Il., Ava and Kyle Hulsebus of Austin, MN.; three sisters, Violet Bennett of Rockford, Il., Vernice Seratt of Poplar Bluff, MO., and Veda Lechner of Merrillan, WI.; one brother LaVern Elder of Poplar Bluff, MO.; Two sister-in-laws, Rose Elder of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Freda McCaslin of Rochelle, Il.; many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Bert & Stella Elder; her husband, Dale Chapman in 1983; two brothers, Loyde Elder and Clyde Elder. Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Monday March 16, 2009 at Coulon-Lyons Family Funeral Home 704 N. 6th Street, Rochelle, IL. 815-562-6872, with Pastors Ken and Anne Erickson officiating. Burial at Lawnridge Cemetery. A visitation will be held 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm Sunday March 15, 2009 at the funeral home.
