Agnes H. Dunkel

Agnes Henriette Dunkel, 97, formerly of Forreston and Ashton, Illinois, passed away on June 21, 2023 at Liberty Court in Dixon, Illinois.

Agnes was born in Rhade, Germany to Gerhard and Josefine Busen on December 1, 1925. She married Norbert M. Dunkel on June 5, 1954 in Oglesby, Illinois. She worked as a homemaker and then for many years at Crest Foods, Co., Inc. in Ashton, Illinois. She enjoyed attending church, crocheting, growing flowers, playing her harmonica, and watching her favorite TV shows.

Agnes is preceded in death by her husband Norbert, Sr., and two sisters and two brothers.

Agnes is survived by her four children, Janet (Ray) Potrawski of Oak Lawn, Illinois, Norbert, Jr. (Kim) Dunkel, of Gainesville, Florida, John (Cheryl) Dunkel of Los Angeles, California, and Monica (David – dec) Downing of Sterling, Illinois, and her brother, Ewald (Gertrude) Busen of Rhade, Germany. Agnes has ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces in Germany.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Beverage-Lyons Family Funeral Home, 601 Richardson Ave, Ashton, Illinois 61006.

Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 244 Kelley Dr, Rochelle, Illinois 61068. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.
