Denise L. Greenfield

Denise Louise Greenfield, 73, of Ashton, IL passed away on July 22, 2023. Denise was born on July 17, 1950 in Rochelle, IL to Mike and Jackie (Wisman) Witzel.

Denise is a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ashton. She lived in Ashton her whole life and graduated from Ashton High School in 1968. Denise married Terry Greenfield on August 31, 1969 and were married almost 54 years.

Denise was a farm wife, raising her 3 daughters at home, and would volunteer at the church and in the school cafeteria. She also worked for Price’s Flowers and Merlin’s Flowers. She also visited 49 out of the 50 states, as she never made it to Oklahoma thanks to dad’s stubbornness.

Denise is survived by her husband, Terry; 3 daughters, Jennifer (Gregory) Cissna of Ashton, IL, Gina (Gregory) Grisham of Bloomington, IL and Rebecca (Walter) Roell of Wheaton, IL; 2 granddaughters, Vivian and Alice Roell of Wheaton, IL; as well as a brother, Jon (Faith) Witzel of Hendersonville, NC.

Denise is preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated to the donor’s choice of either Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL or St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ashton.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Beverage-Lyons Family Funeral Home, 601 Richardson Ave, Ashton, IL 61006. A visitation will be held the next day, Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 803 Paddock Ave, Ashton, IL 61006. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. with a burial to follow at Ashton Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Beverage-Lyons Family Funeral Home.
