Donald E. Green, Jr.

Donald Eugene Green Jr., born in Wheeling WV, passed away peacefully at home in Yorkville IL on July 29th 2023.

Don passed after a ten month battle with cancer at age 62. He is survived by his wife, Teresa and beloved daughter, Megan. His mother, Judy Ueltschy (Bill) Champaign IL. Twin sister Debra Deremiah (Larry) Thomasboro IL. Brothers, Ed Green (Shelly) Hoopeston IL and Dale Green (Marci) Sheridan IL. Youngest sister, Tammy Tapley (Scott) Goshen IN. 37 Nieces and Nephews.

Don and Teresa met at a bowling alley, that being Don’s sport in his youth. 266 scored him a NABI tournament win and he later bowled with Team G-Force. Marriage in June of 1985 was followed by a move to Yorkville IL and the start of Don’s employment with Olsson Roofing Aurora IL.

Don pitched and coached softball, forging lifelong friendships with many he met at the Plano ball park. He spent countless all nighters among good friends, playing great poker, calling “Little Pig” when his deal was up.

His career progressed from spreading hot tar, to rolling out rubber, to selling and managing roofing projects. Don soon realized golf was a sales job requisite so golf quickly became his greatest passion. He loved competition and if you weren’t up for a “friendly” wager you were in the wrong foursome.

When his daughter, Megan, came into his life in 2000, she became his “Pickle Pea” and the keeper of his Heart. They could regularly be seen crazy driving around local golf courses, laughing and loving being outdoors together.

After a 34 year career with Olsson Roofing, Don retired in December 2022. He enjoyed camping which began with family tent camping in the Florida swamps, where his mother wrestled a stringer of fish from an alligator! Later, Yogi Bear Halloween camping weekends and finally cross country RV travels in retirement.

All who knew Don appreciated his remarkable quick wit and uncanny ability to add numbers in his head faster than a calculator. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends who loved him deeply.

A Private Celebratory Remembrance will be held for family and friends on Friday September 22, 2023 at Cedardell Golf Course Plano IL.
