Ret. Major Gary Edward Sopoci, 76, of Sandwich, IL passed away on April 16, 2022 at Hines VA Hospital in Hines, IL. Gary was born on February 7, 1946 in Chicago, IL to Samuel and Joanne (Postelnick) Sopoci. Gary and Anna were married 54 years. He also resided in Northlake and Oak Park, IL. They are strong believers in supporting our country. He served our country for 16 years and went to Viet Nam in 1969 retired a Major.
Gary was also a Scout Master. He was an engineer and had the opportunity to travel the world. Gary & Anna loved to travel they also enjoyed going to the Art Institute of Chicago, the Field Museum and the Shedd Aquarium. Gary is big fan of the Chicago Bears, Cubs, Bulls and Blackhawks. He enjoyed attending the Chicago Theatre and Chicago Opera House as well as the Grant Park Symphony.
Gary is survived by his wife, Anna Marie (Giacchetti) Sopoci; 1 son, Gary Daniel; 1 sister, Sandy (Wrobleski) of Yorkville, IL; 2 sister-in-law’s, Judy and Lora. And many Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews of Chicago and surrounding areas.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Patricia (Joe); And 2 brothers, Donald and John.
