George Kalina

George Kalina, 76, of Sandwich, IL passed away on December 23, 2022. George was born on January 21, 1946 in Budapest, Hungary to Stephen and Maria (Hezer) Kalina. George migrated to the US in 1972 to Chicago sponsored by his aunt and uncle. He met a Hungarian family from Sandwich by accident at Starved Rock State Park, which caused him to move to Plano where he met his wife, Kathy Beverage. They got married and he started his American family. George worked for several factories and retired in the home him and Kathy built. He also attended the Sandwich Church of the Nazarene.

George is survived by his wife, Kathy; 2 children, George Allen (Almarie Downer) Kalina of Rockford, IL and Sarah (Genaro) Kalina-Fiscal of Sandwich, IL; 1 step-son, Mark (Jackie) Beverage; As well as 5 grandchildren, Brandon, Samantha, Evan, Kayla and Lucas.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Mother-in-law and father-in law, George and Pearl Beverage; 2 sisters, Elizabeth and Anna; 2 sisters-in-law, Linda and Myra Sue; And 1 grandson, Jacob Thomas.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. at Beverage Family Funeral Home, 104 Terry Street, Sandwich, Illinois 60548. Funeral service will be held immediately afterwards at 12:00 P.M. with a graveside service to follow out to Oak Mound Cemetery in Somonauk, Illinois.
