Gerald J. Kersten

Gerald J. Kersten, 81, of Rochelle, IL passed away peacefully on August 9, 2020.

Gerald (Jerry), born on July 22, 1939, was a loving husband, father, & grandfather. He farmed all of his life in Ashton, IL and was a member of the Reynolds Township Board. He also served as an Elder of his church.

Jerry is survived by his wife Lynn E. Kersten, who celebrated their 55th anniversary on July 25, 2020, as well as his three sons: Bradley, Brian, & Eric (Stephanie) Kersten. Jerry was the grandfather of Haley (Cody Brill), Kelsey, Madison, & Elias Kersten and additionally had 3 great grandchildren: Kayson, Colten, & Mia.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Elmer and Florence (Gonnerman) Kersten, and his sister Shirley (Kersten) Sgro.

A graveside service will be held Friday, August 14, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Ashton Cemetery for anyone that would like to attend. 

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at Kreider Services in Dixon, IL, which currently provides care for Jerry and Lynn’s middle son, Brian.

Jerry was a blessing to all he encountered, brought life and humor into any room, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
