Gladys Sigrist

Gladys Sigrist, age 84, of New Effington, SD, died peacefully at her residence, Wednesday, November 22, 2017. Family services will be held in Sandwich, Illinois.   Gladys was born on March 21, 1933, in Salem Illinois. She was the daughter of Forest Waggoner and Berniece Jackson. She attended Grades 1 - 8 in Salem, IL.   She was united in marriage with Robert Glenn Sigrist on June 16, 1951, in Corinth, Mississippi. They divorced in 1979, but remained good friends.   Gladys was a homemaker who devoted her like to her kids and grandkids. She extended her care to children outside of her home. Her children would call her the “best mom in the world” and joke that she raised half of the town of Sandwich, IL.   Gladys later moved to South Dakota to be closer to her family. She enjoyed baking, especially cupcakes and coffee cakes.   Gladys is survived by her son, Stanley (Darlene) of Sandwich, IL; daughter, Sharon (Ron) Chaney of New Effington, SD; grandchildren: Angie, Amy, Joey, Jayson and Natalie; and great grandchildren: Nick Allie, Ryan, Kaitlyn, Malakai, Jairo and Maelie.   She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers; and infant daughter, Becky Memorial Service followed by a committal service will be held May 12th 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Beverage Family Funeral Home 104 Terry St. Sandwich Il. Interment will be at Little Rock Twp Cemetery Plano, IL. www.
