Hilo H. Hanson

Hilo Haven Hanson, 72, of Plano, IL passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023. He was born on October 19, 1949 in Rochelle, IL, the son of Trygve and Louise (Melvin) Hanson.

Hilo was united in marriage on December 21, 1974 to Ms. Susan (Sue) Sieberns (deceased August 16, 2020) and they spent the next 45 years happily together. He was a 1967 graduate of Ashton High School in Ashton, IL and a 1973 graduate of Illinois State University in Normal, IL. Mr. Hanson worked at Caterpillar for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed collecting license plates and working on antique cars as his hobbies. He and Sue also enjoyed going and exhibiting at the Sandwich Fair.

Hilo is survived by his mother-in-law, Ila Mae Sieberns of Franklin Grove, IL; His sister-in-law, Sharon (Brent) Stanford of Homewood, IL; His niece, Madelaine (Jonah) Buckels of Chicago, IL and his nephew, Sean (Justin) Stanford of Lakewood, CO; He is also survived by many cousins and an uncle, Yngve Johnson of Malta, IL.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at the Beverage-Lyons Family Funeral Home, 601 Richardson Ave, Ashton, IL with pastor Stevan Saunders officiating. Interment will follow in the Ashton Cemetery in Ashton, IL.
