Jacob David Dykstra Sr. Nov. 5, 1942-Oct. 8,2023

Jake was born and raised in Chicago, IL. He was very proud of going to Lane Tech High School. After graduating he went to printing school and became a linotype operator for Gunthorp-Warren Printing Co. for 9 years . He married Birdie (Roberta Williams) in 1964 and then became a sales rep for Nabisco and very happily sold cookies and crackers for 27 years. After he retired from Nabisco he worked part time for our friend Marty at EDS Corporation delivering materials to the job sites and getting permits and other odds and ends and loved his pal Johnny and the camaraderie of the electricians. He retired from EDS in 2002 . During all his life he indulged in his love of cars and Corvettes in particular and going on our Corvette road trips  and car shows with our friends. He instilled his love of cars in our two boys. He was extremely proud of those two boys and especially their children Jacob Michael Dykstra and Reese Dykstra.  He also enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake Holiday.

Jake is survived by his wife of 59 years Roberta Dykstra from Sandwich, IL and their sons Jacob David Dykstra Jr. (Lisa) grandson Jacob Michael Dykstra,  Poplar Grove IL and David Robert Dykstra (Alyssa) and granddaughter Reese Dykstra, Washington, IL, sister Clare Mack, DesPlaines, IL and Nellie Lomauro, Breinigsville, PA.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. – 12:30 P.M. at Beverage Family Funeral Home, 104 Terry St., Sandwich, IL 60548.
