Jean K. Bolek

Jean (Zoellick) Bolek of Lake Holiday, 90, passed away on February 24, 2021 peacefully at home.  She was born November 25, 1930 to the late George and Carrie (Thauer) Zoellick in Watertown, WI.

In her youth Jean was a teacher, and one of her fondest memories was adventuring out and touring Europe one summer with her sister.  She later became a homemaker who raised four children with her husband, Henry Bolek.  She loved to read, play piano, and enjoy the occasional Manhattan cocktail or glass of Champagne. She set a healthy example for her family by being active for her entire life, taking aerobics classes, hiking, golfing, and bowling.  Despite her small stature, she enjoyed the outdoors and many of the family trips were camping and fishing.  She always had a dog. 

She is survived by her brother, Allen Peter Zoellick (Jackie), and her four children, George Bolek (Teresa Cannon), Dan Bolek (Kay Zakour), Andy Bolek (Cindy Thomas), and Katherine Loranger (Ben Loranger).  She is also survived by five grandchildren, Kayla Amiri, Kristen Bolek, Benjamin Bolek, Brett Bolek, and Scott Bolek; one great grandson, Arman Amiri; and three “granddogs”, Clicquot, Haley, and Betty Bark.  She is also survived by a special friend, Robert Buckley, who was a blessing in her life for more than ten years and has become part of the family. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Bolek, her sisters, Marion Spotts, Gladys Towne, and Fern Wood, and her brother Don Zoellick. 

A visitation will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Beverage Family Funeral Home, 104 Terry Street Sandwich, IL 60548. Cremation rites to be accorded. Jean’s family will be holding a memorial service at a later time. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Beverage Family Funeral Home.
