Jerry Shepherd

Jerry Shepherd, 74, of Sandwich, IL passed away on May 20, 2020 due to complications from the Corona Virus. Jerry was adopted at age 6 by Paul W. and Eleanor (Frost) Shepherd of Kanorado, Kansas.. He grew up in Kanorado, Kansas and attended school there until he was 18 years old. On September 17th, 1962 he entered the Navy and served until September 9th, 1966. A career as a factory worker at Caterpillar supported his family. Jerry was an avid motorsports enthusiast. He enjoyed taking long bike rides on his Harley Davidson. Throughout his life he was an active member at Vietnow, worked at a suicide hotline, competed in pool leagues, and spent a lot of time with his RC clubs. He was most proud of his sons and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dennis.

He is survived by his son Dennis (Jeanette) of Mendota, Chad of Mendota, and Travis (Ellen) of McHenry. Jerry was a proud Papaw to 10 grandchildren and a Great Papaw to 2 great-grandchildren.

Cremation rites were accorded. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Beverage Family Funeral Home. Memorials will be directed to the Kanorado Senior Center.
