Kathleen Mary Elizabeth Weekly

Kathleen Mary Elizabeth Weekly 79, passed away September 6, 2018 at Northwestern Valley West Community Hospital Sandwich, IL. She was born August 7 1939 to the late William Anthony and Violet Mae (Cromer) Burzolasky . Her dad worked as a coal miner immigrating to the US from Lithuania in the 1920s. She married her love Jim Weekly on April 12, 1958 in Earlville IL, being married for 60 years. They met at the Earlville drive in where Kathy worked at the concession stand. Her first job was working at Toot & Tellem in Pana as a car hop. She worked for and retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Montgomery after 32 years of service. Kathy was known as the” Bowling lady” to several generations of the Sandwich Junior Bowling league and served for 40 years as Secretary of the league and on the bowling board. She was active in the Tuesday night Bowling League for over 50 years, serving as Secretary, President and Treasurer over that time. She was active in Caterpillar Girls Club prior to her retirement in 1992. She served as Treasurer and President before the club changed to Caterpillars Employees Club. She was a member of Junior Woman’s Club, Sandwich Jaycettes, Eastern Star, and was an ARCH volunteer, and served as a Democratic Election Judge for 16 years.  She enjoyed camping with her family at Rolling Oaks Campgrounds at their campsite they called “Weekly’s Weekender.” She enjoyed gardening and canned vegetables, she was known for her pickled beets. She loved flowers, especially peonies and her Rose of Sharon, she enjoyed puzzles and painting by numbers and word searches. She is survived by her husband Jim of Sandwich; 2 children Dawn Marie (Allen Dotson) Weekly of Leland, IL and Steven Craig Weekly of Sandwich; Grandchildren Christopher (CJ) Grinstead, Katie M. Weekly and James J. Weekly; 1 great grandchild Camren Buck. She is preceded in death by her parents, her 4 sisters; Julia, Susanne, Josephine and Pauline, and her brother William “Billy B” Burolasky. Funeral service will be held Saturday September 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Beverage Family Funeral Home Sandwich, IL. with Rev. Dan DeWitt officiating, interment to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday September 14, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
