Kirby L. Myers

Kirby Lee Myers, age 75, of Sandwich, Illinois was called home to heaven on May 26, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents Wilbur Estel Myers and Martha Louise (Raymond) Myers, his twin sister Kathy, and his younger brother Jan Myers. He is survived by his loving wife Connie (Phillips) Myers, his children Emily (Matthew) Cannon and Gregory (Brittney) Myers, and his older sister Judith. He also leaves behind two beautiful grandchildren, Lucy and Amos. He was married to Barbara (Gasperin) Myers from 1972 to 1988. On October 27, 1993 he married Connie (Phillips) Myers and they have loved and cared for each other ever since. He was a proud veteran, having served in the Air Force and Reserves from March 15, 1967 to March 14, 1973. Kirby was a career postal worker, always committed to serving others. If a stranger was in need of help, he was happy to lend a hand. He worked at the Sandwich Post Office for 36 years. Kirby was an enthusiastic member of the Fox River Lutheran Church. He loved a good card game or a peaceful day out on his boat fishing with a buddy. He was a fiercely loyal friend. He had a deep, beautiful singing voice and eyes that, like the ocean, a person could get lost in. And his favorite ice cream was vanilla.

Visitation will be held on June 3, 2023 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Fox River Lutheran Church located at 2785 E. US 52 in Sheridan, IL 60551. A celebration of Kirby’s life from 11:00-12:00 and a luncheon will immediately follow the visitation. The graveside service will take place at 2:00 at Oak Mound Cemetery located at 13657 Chicago Road in Somonauk, IL 60552.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fox River Lutheran Church to minister to those in need, with an emphasis on individuals affected by cancer.
