Mary Torresday Garcia

Mary T. Garcia 94 of Sandwich passed away at her home in Sandwich, IL on October 24th 2019. She was born February 23rd 1925 in Ideal Colorado to the late Luiz and Luz ( Launas ) Torresday. She was born and raised in the Rocky Mountains with her fathers and sister. Her family tended sheep and she often hunted rabbits for food, with that she earned the nick name of “ Annie Oakley “ for her adventures. After she married her husband Donald V. Garcia, she and her husband moved with their 6 children to Chicago. Mary and her husband owned and operated KVK foundry in Millington for several decades, they lived in rural Sheridan before Mary moved to Sandwich. She enjoyed her family and the parties often making tortillas and tamales to feed everyone. She is survived by her daughters Gloria Vana, Angela ( Jose ) Bejarano and Louise De La Cruz and her son Donald R. ( Diane Haas ) Garcia .  13, grandchildren 15, great grandchildren and 1, great great grandchild.. She is preceded in death by her parents ,husband Donald, Sister Basilia 2  sons Jesse and Raymond . Visitation will be held Monday October 28th 2019 from 4-7 p.m. at the Beverage Family Funeral Home 104 Terry St. Sandwich IL. Funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday October 29th 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church Plano, IL. with Fr. Andy Davy celebrant. Interment to follow at Millington-Newark Cemetery Plano, IL
