Martha Fay Lang

d. August 6, 2020

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” - Psalm 30:5

Martha Fay (nee) Saccani Lang age 85 transitioned to her Heavenly Home peacefully,
surrounded by her loving children at her home in Dunedin, Florida, Thursday morning
August 6, 2020 due to complications of colon cancer but she still lived a full and active
independent life until her passing.

She was born in Monongahela, PA to William Saccani and Sara (Smail) Saccani.

Martha married her late husband Vinal Lang in 1956 and was a widow since 1990.

When asked what was most important to her she said, “God and my family”

Martha loved Jesus Christ and accepted him as her Savior at a young age. Throughout
her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God.

Her dad was a Nazarene Preacher and every weekend the family would share the
gospel and the salvation of Jesus in downtown Pittsburgh.

She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and was very involved in her church
in Florida and served as the Treasurer / Secretary for many years.

Martha used her God given tenderness and compassion and became a Registered
Nurse.

She Graduated from Milford Memorial School of Nursing in Milford, Delaware in 1953.
Her career included nursing positions in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Illinois and
Florida.

In Illinois she worked at the Sandwich Community Hospital as the Recovery Room
Charge Nurse and as a Surgical Nurse. In Florida she worked at Humana Health
Insurance as a Workers Compensation Fraud Nurse Investigator, home health care,
nursing facilities Charge Nurse and hospice Case Manager.

In 2009 she was diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer which forced her retirement at
age 74 from Suncoast Hospice as a Crisis Care Nurse or she still would have been
working in some capacity. She was only given a 2 to 2 ½ year life expectancy however
she still lived alone and was driving until recently.

She lived an additional 11 years from the time of diagnosis. Martha attributed this to her
faith in God as He would “never leave or forsake her” and that her life was “in Gods
hands and her passing would be in His timing for His glory”.

In addition to being a dedicated, loving mother and nurse she enjoyed traveling and
went on medical mission trips to China and Chile. In 2002 she went to Hawaii to
celebrate her “first retirement” and then went back to work as she missed caring for
people in need.

She enjoyed genealogy and had the opportunity to go to Italy and France to see her
grandson compete in a US Jr. Soaring Competition. While there she was able to
research her family history since her grandparents were from Italy and France.

The latest trip outside of the United States was a Southern Gospel Music Caribbean
Cruise in 2018. She loved Christian music and was gifted with playing the piano and
the accordion.

In 2020 and for the past 5 years she has attended an entire week of Southern Gospel
Music in Palmetto, Florida at Bill Bailey’s Winter Gospel Music Convention.

One of the highlights of her life was being chosen for the Wheel of Fortune tryouts as
she was talented with a wide vocabulary and was a great puzzle solver.

Preceding her in death were her husband, 2 daughters due to early pregnancy loss, her
parents, her brother Bill Saccani, her sister Nellie Edwards and 4 Nephews.

She is survived by her 4 children Darryl (Leslie) Lang, Sheryl (Mick) Westbrook, Vicki
(Mark) Nelson, Vinal (Linnea) Lang.

5 Grandchildren: Michael, Joseph, Tasia, Zachary and Kiersten and her very special
Granddog Lula.

3 Great Grandchildren: Sophia, Alex and Benjamin Malachi.

Special Thanks, Love and Gratitude to her Hospice Nurse of 5 years Stacey , her
nurses aide Patty and Chaplain Gabriel. She loved you all very much.

Much Love and Prayers to her special friends, Ethel, Jackie and Jill and Jill’s therapy
dog Tuppy. Your texts, phone calls and visits kept her spirits up!

A viewing / visitation will be held in Florida and a Private graveside service will be held
in Illinois.
