Mary Alyce De Craene

Mary Alyce De Craene, 81, of Sandwich, IL passed away on October 25, 2023. Mary Alyce was born on April 8, 1942 in Chicago, IL to Victor and Berenice (Maguire) Posanka.

Mary Alyce, along with her husband, David, were members of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Sandwich for 17 years. She was also the secretary and former president of the Christian Women’s Group at the church. Mary Alyce enjoyed traveling and going on cruises with David. Earlier in life, she and David really enjoyed trailer camping across the United States. Mary Alyce also loved to sew and had a fondness for hummingbirds.

Mary Alyce is survived by her husband, David; 4 children, Peter (Karen) De Craene of Berwyn, IL, Patrick (Sandra) De Craene of Clarksville, TN, Daniel De Craene of Joliet, IL and Andrew (Amy) De Craene of Western Springs, IL; 1 brother, Gerald (Mary Elaine) Posanka of East Setauket, NY; 9 grandchildren, William (Lindsey) De Craene, Evan (Alexis) De Craene, Alexandra De Craene, Sarah De Craene, Zachary De Craene, Ryan De Craene, Catherine De Craene, Charles De Craene and Cameron De Craene; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews and many in-laws.

She is preceded in death by her parents; 1 brother, Lawrence Posanka; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Kathrine De Craene.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 340 W. Arnold St. Sandwich, IL 60548. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 A.M. at the church. A graveside service will take place at a later date. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Beverage Family Funeral Home.
