Mary Derdzinski

Mary M. Derdzinski, 79, of Somonauk, Illinois, passed away in her home on Tuesday, November 12th, 2024.

Mary M. Derdzinski was born in Minocqua, Wisconsin, on May 16th, 1945, to Henry and Helen Wokral. Throughout her lifetime, Mary worked numerous jobs. She was most proud of her career as a dedicated legal secretary for Ingemunson Law Firm for ten fruitful years. Mary spoke of those she worked with as her second family. During the course of her job, Mary developed many long-lasting, loving friendships.

Mary was a strong-willed, fun-spirited, witty soul who pursued many passions. One of which included taking care of those she loved. She was the backbone of her family and prided herself on caring for those around her. Whether showing love through her fantastic cooking, making you laugh with her sense of humor, or giving you honest (sometimes brutally honest) advice, Mary always knew what to say and how to make those around her feel better. When Mary wasn't caring for her loved ones, she was busy spoiling her cats. Everyone that knew her, knew just how much she loved her cats.

Mary's departure comes as a great shock and deep wound, gravely felt by her entire family and countless others who loved her. Mary had the biggest heart and the most contagious laugh. She was bold, fearless, independent, and at times stubborn, yet sensitive and incredibly compassionate. She made a lasting impact on so many lives. She will be forever missed.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, Henry Wokral, her Mother, Helen Wokral, and her son, Roger Derdzinski.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Carla (Skip) Myers, Barbara Ingram, and Jill (Norm) Gagnon; Her ten grandchildren/spouses, and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Skip Myers, Norm Gagnon, Braxton Gagnon, Jake Ewing, Clayton Kuppler and Daniel Neville. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed toward the family or the charity of the donor's choice. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 18th, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Beverage Family Funeral Home, 104 Terry St. Sandwich, IL.

Burial services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 19th, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Somonauk, IL. Pastor Schoon of St. John Lutheran Church of Somonauk, will officiate.
